Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 burger buns
- 4 slices of bacon
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons bourbon
- 4 oz goat cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 4 tomato slices
- 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 4 tablespoons ketchup
- 4 tablespoons Dijon mustard
Instructions:
Warm up your grill or pan on the stove by setting it on medium-high heat
Cook the bacon in a pan until it gets crispy
Take it out and put it on paper towels to drain
Put the thinly sliced onions in the same pan with the bacon fat
Cook them over medium heat for about 10 minutes, or until they start to turn caramelized
Add the bourbon and keep cooking for another 5 minutes or until the onions are soft and caramelized
Take it off the heat
Form the ground beef into four burger patties while the onions are getting caramelized
Add pepper and salt
You can grill or pan-fry the burger patties until they are done the way you like them
For medium-rare, they usually take about 4 to 5 minutes per side
Put a slice of goat cheese on top of each burger when they are almost done
Cover the grill or pan and let the cheese melt for about one to two minutes
You can grill or toast the burger buns until they are just barely browned
Put the burgers together by putting mayonnaise on the bottom bun, then a lettuce leaf, a tomato slice, bacon, a burger patty with melted goat cheese, and a big scoop of bourbon caramelized onions
Spread ketchup and Dijon mustard on the top bun, then put it on top of the burger that has already been put together
Enjoy your tasty bacon burger with bourbon caramelized onions and goat cheese while its still hot
